Philosophy
VTI’s belief is that environment is at least 50% of the battle for these young men. If we show that they are worthwhile by putting them in a really nice house with a homelike atmosphere their self-worth will begin to positively increase. Although, this is just a portion of the work that needs to be done with these kids, it is extremely important that they start off on a positive note.
We want to remove the institutionalized feel that these young men have had created for them as the move through the system. Our attempt will be to normalize their lives by not only creating the homelike atmosphere but sending them to regular public schools and getting them involved with sports and/or employment opportunities. The problem with these kids being institutionalized is that they feel that someone will always be there to do stuff for them their entire lives. They have always been able to use their past as a way to get people to do things for them or as an excuse as to why they don't succeed. At VTI that all stops. We believe in giving them the confidence and desire to do things for themselves.
The more these young men begin to take control of their own lives the more successful they will be after they turn eighteen.
Success breeds further successes!
VIT's belief is that environment is half the battle for at-risk youth and teens. Our programs provide the guidance and tools that kids need for a successful future!
